The NAEA Board of Directors is elected by its members.

2025 Call for Nominations

The NAEA Board of Directors guides the Association forward on behalf of NAEA’s members and their learners. As a member of the NAEA Board of Directors, you have opportunities to connect with educators from across the country, represent your geographic region or membership division, and gain leadership experience on a national level. Please consider nominating NAEA members you know who have an interest in national leadership and service. Self-nominations are also invited.

The Nominating Committee is seeking candidates for the following NAEA Board of Directors positions:

  • President-Elect
  • Division Directors-Elect (Elementary, Middle Level, Secondary, Higher Education, Preservice, Supervision and Administration, and Museum Education)

Terms of Service

The President serves for a total of 6 years: 2 years each as President-Elect, President, and Past President. Candidates nominated for this primary leadership position must be members in good standing who have held active membership in the Association during the past 4 years.

The term as Elect begins at the conclusion of the 2025 NAEA National Convention in Louisville, KY, March 2025, and ends at the conclusion of the 2027 NAEA National Convention. At that point the candidate selected as Elect would become President from March 2027 through March 2029.

Division Directors serve 4 years: 2 years as Division Director-Elect and 2 years as Division Director. To be eligible for nomination for these leadership positions, individuals must be active NAEA members and must be certified and/or licensed within the job‑alike division and employed within the job‑alike category. Individuals nominated for Preservice must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program of study, spending 51% of the time as a student.

The term as Elect begins at the conclusion of the 2025 NAEA National Convention in Louisville, KY, March 2025, and ends at the conclusion of the 2027 NAEA National Convention. At that point, the candidate selected as Elect would become the Director from March 2027 through March 2029.


Nominations

This year, NAEA is using a new submission platform called Submittable to collect and review nominations. In order to submit a nomination, you will first need to create a free account with Submittable.

After beginning the nomination form, you can save a draft and return to finish it at any time before August 5.

If you are nominating someone else, we encourage you to use the “Collaborator” feature within Submittable. This will allow you to invite the nominee to work with you on the nomination form in real time.

If you are self-nominating, you will need to have the name and email address available for the person who will provide a letter of support for your nomination. You will be asked to enter this information into the form to complete your nomination. An automatic email with be sent to this person allowing them to attach their letter of support to your nomination.
